Pokemon Tower Defense: Level 8 is out! Alpha v2.1

Level 8 is done are ready to be played, but please read this first before you go!

You will know if you are playing the new version because it will say Alpha v2.1.

First of all, I want to explain the pokemart. You go to the pokemart you buy the stone that you need, then you go select a level to play and on the party select screen you press on the pokemon that you want to use the stone with. You will see a button there "Use Item". Click on that, if the pokemon can use that stone you will see it there.

Second, on Level 8 - Mt Moon 1, there is a spot on the map that you put your pokemon in that looks brown instead of the usual orange. That spot is meant only for Rock Type pokemon! It's not a bug, only rock type pokemon can go there.

Third, codes for evolution stones for people who donated in the past will have to wait until next week, I didn't get a chance to add that into the game.

I will have a proper inventory screen later on, and the pokemart will get prettier as time goes on.

Fourth, I have currently sent the swf file to Newgrounds- Updated, Gamerfish-Updated, Freeworldgroup, Mofunzone, playtowerdefensegames - updated, funny games, OneMoreLevel.com. Let me know if there is a site that you want me to send the update to!

Lastly, the level is possible to finish, trust me I have done it without cheating. Yes the level is difficult, enjoy.

Comments

  1. It's TLK.

Just tossing it out there. Ivysaurs with Vine Whip don't do nearly as much damage as they should to the Geodudes. Nor do any of Nidorina/Nidorino/Mankey's Fighting types when they all should be. They're superior in type to Geodude's Rock.

    ReplyDelete
  2. I buff boss pokemon (blue bar) a whole lot to give you guys some extra challenge.

    ReplyDelete
  3. But shouldn't superior types still be "Super Effective" against them compared to the normal or inferior type moves? It's how Pokemon works. lol.

    ReplyDelete
  4. It's impossible to do this, lol.

    -Slepz

    ReplyDelete
  5. Oh don't get me wrong, vine whip IS hurting him more than non super effective moves. It just won't kill him on one hit.

In other words, not using super effective moves on him will take longer to kill him.

  19. awesome, lovin your game so far. also a good site to post this to would be kongregate.com it would be a instant favorite

    ReplyDelete
  20. Is STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) calculated?

    ReplyDelete
  21. So, care to tell us what you decided for the rarity of shiny pikachu?

Also, for the extra dedicated among us, can we get multiple shiny pikachu's? (Or more likely, one to keep a pikachu, one to evolve.)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Just a suggestion, you might want to make the Pokemon credits and copyrights only show once. It shows up every time you go to the main screen instead of just when the game starts up. Besides that, amazing work.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It would be really cool if you added a Sandshrew (Favorite Pokemon).
    -Varenine

    ReplyDelete
  24. The Cost of your evolution stones, is super unrealistic... who has the time to sit there and make 10,000???

    ReplyDelete
  25. what color is a shiny pikachu...?

    ReplyDelete
  26. i cant find the alpha 2.1 anywhere, ive looked on the sites you said would be updated but do far its a no show. also eventually your own site would be good that way it is constantly updated.
great job so far though and keep up the good work.

  27. thew lvl glitched one of th bosses took all the geodude and the lvl kept going and i won i'm trying to beat it fairly though

    ReplyDelete
  28. re stone costs: 10k isn't really that bad, especially if you're spending the time to get your pokemon to lvl 20, and/or spent a reasonable amount of time hunting for paras or pikachu.

On my main profile I have ~18k earned in the process of getting every pokemon available to lvl 20, and haven't played beyond that, so it's certainly not impossible, especially if you wanted to actually grind money.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sam, awesome work, loving it. Just wondering two things. 1. Are you going to adjust the the storage system so we can view all our pokemon easily, as once you get past about 20 pokemon it starts going off screen. maybes a scroll bar or a next page function.

    2. Will you make an update button so that we dont have to keep on replacing the exe or swf file each week. A bit like a mincraft update or something.

Just suggestions. Awesome game though well done and thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  30. If anyone is having trouble beating this level legit here's how I just did it:
Wartortle in the middle using Water Gun.
Jigglypuff in the lower right corner using Round.
Raticate above Jigglypuff using Hyper Fang.
Butterfree in the lower left corner using Confusion.
    Pikachu above Butterfree using Thunderwave.
Pidgeotto switching behind the two back positions using Whirlwind.

All my pokemon are level 20 and this still took me several tries.

    Great job Sam!

  33. Are u going to update the android market one?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Which site is it updated at yet?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Sam, Found a glitch. If you scroll to the top of the level. sometimes you will come across what looks like red bared geodudes but when you catch them you get things like, spearow, mankey. Think it must be an issue with the sprites.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hey just wondering if the stones will disable the pokemon to learn new moves or if they do nothing but buff you up?

    ReplyDelete
  37. sam you are the man

    not your best update

    Jigglypull,

  42. The new level is tough, but complaining won't help. It is like Viridian forest a few weeks ago; tough, but manageable.

The update said there are 5 new pokemon, so far I have seen Ekans, Geodude, Clefairy, Zubat.. anyone know what the 5th is?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Can yu update the one for the app please

    ReplyDelete
  44. new pokes are sandshrew, ekans (havent seen one), clefairy, geodude and zubat

I already have an account and previously saved it online. But now i can neither save it online or import it to the new game. I even tried importing it on the game at newgrounds to see if that would work. No luck :( please help if you have time I do not want to restart my entire game.

    ReplyDelete
  49. just beat the level using a charmeleon, mankey, pikachu, jigglypuff, butterfree and pidgeotto. Now to get all the stones.

    ReplyDelete
  50. The new level is almost impossible on Android OS, but it seems like it's do-able on the computer.

    ReplyDelete
  51. To all these people asking "what colour is a shiny pikachu?" and "Will stones disable pokemon learning new moves?" Heres an idea, go learn something about pokemon first before you start playing a pokemon game.... Majority of these questions are pathetic and a waste of time, no one is going to answer each and every one of them.

Altho, there was one question i like, and i wanna know the answer too. Does PTD incorporate STAB and super effective moves? like do water type moves do 4x damage to geodude? since it's ground and rock?

    ReplyDelete
  52. @Sam Are you sure it is possible with charmeleon too? Without using doubles evolved or new pokemon?

    ReplyDelete
  53. when PTD is running in android it still keeps the screen on.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Found a glitch. Clefary when appearing has a Mankey sprite over top of it. So when you catch it, it says you caught Mankey instead and instead of Clefary in your Storage Box, it's a Mankey.

    ReplyDelete
  55. As if i said nothing, done, in a strange way i would have no choice to repeat but done, i won XD

oh sam did u put all 5 new obtainable pokemons in mt moon or is it just 4 new pokemons o.o?

    ReplyDelete
  60. putting it on freeworldgroup would be nice. awesome game. I like how everything so far seems to be as close to the original red and blue as possible, except for the obvious tower defence aspect, and neat way to make a plot change to keep it really interesting. amazing job and good luck with it and all. will definitely be keeping an eye on this

    ReplyDelete
  61. Please add Machop

    ReplyDelete
  62. @Sam It's fine for us to be this difficult because we have all pokemon to 20 and we waited a week: we wish a good challange. But when you do your next update with level 9, make level 8 easier, remember that the 2 level before cannot be lost so people will arrive up to level 8 with really shitty pokemon... Do that or you might burn out new players^^ and these sandrew and ekans are them one for type game(red and blue) or just one really hard to see changing from type to type?(I saw no sandrew and i see people saying the opposite, if there is no chance at seeing it I'll stop looking and start the epic search for the shiny pikachu XD)

    ReplyDelete
  63. Small bug to report, I was down to my last Geodude to protect and it was picked up by a boss Geodude who then got growl-chained by my Clefairy and actually ended up bringing it off the map, causing me to lose. I doubt this will come up very often, but I thought I'd post it anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  64. @sam-Can you make the stones a bit more realistic? i mean, isn;t 10,000 is a bit too much dont you think??

    ReplyDelete
  65. I think that Magnitude is not working...

    ReplyDelete
  66. Cannot find Ekans or Clefairy, and has anyone seen a shiny Pikachu?

    ReplyDelete
  67. i think you should post a download for the file when you update the game

    ReplyDelete
  68. omg this is a great update! Dont pay attention to the whiners amongst us Sam!! I just cleared the Mt. Moon level. I had a Wartortle and placed him tot he side where the 'blue' geodudes are. I also had a Geodude placed in the middle and a Mankey above him. This really works in my opinion.

Sam what a great update and the stones are not too expensive at all!! You can farm money really fast in Viridian Forest 2 now. It takes a while, but it's a challenge to get the stones. Just what its supposed to be. The game must not be too easy, that's what makes the game so addictive and fun.

I hope you'll be making more updates like this!

And Sam, I still hope that the pokémon levels will be visible the next update in the 'storage screen'!!

    Keep up the good work!!!

  71. the update did not work for any of the sites

    ReplyDelete
  72. Where's the file to play on a mobile device? Please help! :'(

    ReplyDelete
  73. I think that if the spawn times were a second slower or maybe more so it gave more time between spawns then it would be a lot easier.

    just my two cents

    ReplyDelete
  74. please send the update to minigames.com please i want to play Mt. moon :) thx

    ReplyDelete
  75. I SPEND 10K IN A FIRE STONE TO EVOLVE MY CHARMELEON AND I CANT USE IT !!!?????

    ReplyDelete
  76. orange pikachu is almost impossible to tell...
    unless its really orange...
the spawn with geodude together is impossible...

    ReplyDelete
  77. ummm...charmeleon doesn't evolve with a stone. I really hope that comment was a joke

    ReplyDelete
  78. Can't use a stone to evolve Charmeleon. It evolves at level 36.

    ReplyDelete
  79. SO HOW DO I GET MY CHARIZAAAARRRDDDD OMFG IDC IF CHARMELEON DOESN´T EVOLVE WITH A STONE, IF I PUT A FIRE STONE IN A FIRE POKE HE MUST EVOLVE , COME ON...

    ReplyDelete
  80. I'm assuming evolving w/ a stone won't hinder the pokemon from learning level-up moves like in the real game. Cause that would really suck. Anyone know?

    ReplyDelete
  81. yey nicee update! i have a question to you Sam, have a chance to appear a shiny pikachu in viridian forest?

    ReplyDelete
  82. Is it possible to send the update to jayisgames.com?
    Thanks! =D

    ReplyDelete
  83. Is it possible send the update to www.clickjogos.com.br ???????

    ReplyDelete
  84. Sam - dont listern to the people complaining about the level being to hard or the stones costing too much, its great. I mean it keeps us playing for a lot longer and It would be boring if you could just do it first time around. Well done. Plus if they are really that bothered I am sure they can wait a week or so when you raise the level cap which will make it easier then so please don't change the difficulty or anything other than any bugs that crop up. Fantastic :)

    ReplyDelete
  85. yes, i wanna know too if there is a chance to a shiny pokemon appear in a rout or forest, and please please send the update to minigames.com.

    ReplyDelete
  86. omg impossible to beat with charmeleon line...
    currently restarting as wartortle...

    ReplyDelete
  87. Yes, if people took more of an effort and read his posts and comments you would realize that there is a chance for a shiny pikachu to show up in either forest level but the chance is extremely slim just like in the original game.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Oh I agree, it seems as if magnitude is not working. All geodude seems to do is jump up and down and no damage is taken by enemies. Might want to check this out Sam. :)

    ReplyDelete
  89. Hey, I play this on onemorelevel.com and they still haven't updated it, do you know if they will update it, or do I need to restart the whole game from another website? Please help, thanks :D

    ReplyDelete
  90. Great update! It is difficult but not impossible. It's challenging, which is what tower defense is for. The game is replayable, which makes it even better. The challenge to get better pokemon is great. I'm sure Mt. Moon will not be a challenge after you increase the level cap, so maybe wait a while on that and fix some of the minor bugs people have mentioned. Keep the updates coming; you are doing an amazing job!

    ReplyDelete
  91. for those who are waiting for update...
just save and go to newgrounds or download exe and import...

    ReplyDelete
  92. Hey stop complaining about not being to evolve your CHARMELEON with a fire stone. You clearly don't play the orginal games as then you would have a better understanding and know that you can't evolve starter pokemon or many others with the use of evolution stones. Theres only a few. Also we have not even reached the second gym yet and your complaining that you can't fully evolve your starter yet I mean come on its a game that takes time to play be patient and enjoy it

    ReplyDelete
  93. Beat mt moon 3 times now with a charmelion group of lvl 20 stuff. (It's actually a rather profitable level too, I've made like 8k here simply trying to catch pokemon and survive, making the stone prices all the more reasonable.)

Caught an ekans, geodude, and zubat so far. I think I've seen a clefairy, but it's hard to say for sure since I'm too busy micromanaging things in order to actually survive the level.

I take it I can't get a sandshrew since I'm playing the blue version, which is unfortunate. I'm hoping clefairy is possible though and I didn't just imagine seeing one.

After that, it's shiny hunting time. ^.^

    ReplyDelete
  94. @Mysticman89
are u sure ur playing the blue version...?
im also playing charmander line in blue version...
no ekans but i caught sandshrew

    ReplyDelete
  95. Mysticman...what lineup did you use w/ charmeleon to beat the level?

    ReplyDelete
  96. Oops, I meant to say since I'm playing red version and *not* blue.

In any case, my best tip for people struggling with mt moon (which I just beat again) is that whirlwind is your best friend.

  98. Hey, great update (Newgrounds is up with it now).

In my RED Version, I found Clefairy, Geodude, Ekans and Zubat. Levelling them now. Is Sandshrew locatable in Red at all?

Also, my lineup with a Charmeleon:
-Charmeleon (top of the side with the boss Geodude, using Dragon Rage, I move him frequently)
    -Nidorino (Double Kick, middle)
-Raticate (Pursuit, same side as Nido)
-Pikachu (Electroball, opposite side, I move it frequently to the opposite side of the boss Geodudes to peg the little guys)
-Mankey (Fury Swipes, opposite side to Nido)
    -Butterfree (String shot, in middle)

Lots of movement needed, but I've won the level a few times. MASSIVE GOLD to be made in that level, too. I gained 6k in a few runs.

I presume the new Pokes are Geo, Zubat, Clefairy, Ekans and Sandshrew (are the last 2 version EXCLUSIVE, or just rare? I've seen no Shrews in Red). New Evolutions are Wigglytuff, Clefable, Raichu, Nidoking and Nidoqueen (I presume only the last 2 learn new moves after evolving).

Do we get Shiny Pikachus in Viridian 1, or Viridian 2?

Great update, lots of fun, very difficult but massively rewarding.

Magnitude doesn't seem to do anything more than make Geo hope. Geo's electric-resistance move has screwy values for cooldowns and Power, too.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Just a question - are you using the movesets for gen 5? I'm pretty certain (electro bolt) but need some confirmation to know when to evolve my pokemon with stones.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I meant Butterfree is in the very middle, to slow all, and Nidorino is middle of one side...

    ReplyDelete
  101. Please up the level cap. I know that you said that it's possible to beat Mt. Moon, and maybe it's because I have Charmeleon, but all my Pokemon are level 20 and they can't get past the second wave.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Disregard all whiners, awsome update dude. The new lv is hard, fun, but hard. I just have one question. In the next update can u make it so I don't have to turn of the sound and music evrytime. I got in trouble in history class today bc of music. = ( Thanks, and keep up the good work. - Will

    ReplyDelete
  103. Alright, I just beat it, and for me, it was a lot of luck with the spawns.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I've won the mt. moon lvl with a charmander. is really hard, but it is what make the game fun =D
But the level cap needs an up

    ReplyDelete
  105. The credits button doesn't seem to work...

    ReplyDelete
  106. damn that was tough.
i used a nidorina, mankey, fearow, jigglypuff, raticate and pidgeotto.
pidgeotto used whirlwind on the geodudes and quick attacks on everything else. had to keep moving it from side to side.
great level, and now i have a nidoking

    ReplyDelete
  107. whats the level cap now?

    ReplyDelete
  108. Seriously though, you need to up the level cap. It's cool to make sure that people don't get level 100 pokemon super early just from playing constantly, but Mt. Moon is a bit too difficult for my liking. The beauty of Pokemon has always been that if a spot was too difficult, you could always train for hours to level up and then breeze through that spot.

    ReplyDelete
  109. send it to flashlinegames.com

    ReplyDelete

  118. Hours later and level 8 done, I had an ivysaur, raticate, pidgeotto, Ekans, Beedrill and a Nidoking.

Nidoking = bottom right using double kick
Beedrill = bottom left using rage then tweedle
Ivysaur = middle right using razorleaf
Raticate = middle left using quick attack
Ekans = middle using Leer or screech
Pidgeotto = top left using whirlwind then switch to top left usning quick attach for smaller pokemon then every time a boss geodude comes put pidgeotto on the right land and change attack back to whirlwind to blow the boss geodude around then switch attack back to quick attack and put pidgeotto back on the lane that currently has pokemon on it. (It's all about pidgeotto) Love this level and thanks to it being difficult I got so much money that I can just about afford my second evolution stone :)

    ReplyDelete
  119. I just beat it with pigeotto, charmelean, mankey, butterfree, nidoking, and nidorina...pigotto only used whirlwind...charmeleon only ember...mankey only seismic toss...butterfree only confusion...nidoking only double kick... nidorina only fury swipes///nidoking in middle ///charmelean,nidorina, and butterfree on side with lots of weak ones/// mankey and pigeotto on side with 1 geodude, pigotto at back of it____lots of switching

    ReplyDelete
  120. This one's honestly way too hard to be enjoyable to the average user. You've got a ready-made testing group, the majority of whom have max levels and a genuine enthusiasm for the game concept, and speaking as one of those users, it's pretty darn difficult if you're not looking to spend hours grinding to beat it, and even then, it takes some luck.

For the average user? This'll be a brick wall. You'll have players hitting this level at less than max level and with fewer options open to them, and they'll not be able to come close to beating it.

    Two major problems here:
    1) Random circumstance (luck) plays a huge factor in victory
    2) Disproportionate spike in difficulty level

I don't mind being part of the group that addresses this, but something to keep in mind as you move on.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Quick Question: You beat the level if Brock says something along the lines of now lets get charged up, correct?

    ReplyDelete
  122. I really liked the new level, finally something challange, but its easy to beat with some strategy

I think you should raise the Stone's price, but well, some people think it is way too expensive now, so whatever

Anyways, one thing, is Ekans catch-able in Blue Version?

    ReplyDelete
  123. @Peter Thompson - It's not much different than the game, really. If you charge ahead without spending time to level up, you'll hit that same wall. There were 2 un-failable levels prior this, so someone who didn't take the time to make use of them properly will suffer if they just let waves go by without sending a poke out to level up.

Beyond that, this is the first level that requires actual strategy, and it;s the 8th level. Average player can expect to have a Level 13-16 poke or 4 by now (higher if they spent time searching for specific pokes), and with a little practice (failure still gives exp and money) they'll level up enough to be able to beat this.

Really, it comes down to strategy, regardless. All TD's come down to it, eventually, and it's just fortunate that it's 8 levels in before it's needed.

  131. Level is doable. For those struggling, catch and level up four Mankeys on route 3, then deploy them in the top four squares down the sides.

The bottom two slots should be two pikachu using thunderwave. Good luck catching two of them, but they're the most effective paralyzers in the game, they'll slow down pretty much everything.

Oh, and for those who don't believe me, Brock says "Ok, we're through, get ready to charge in" or something along those lines and then it goes back to the level select (no fancy ending this time).

    ReplyDelete
  132. @LanderZ - It's incredibly different from the game in exactly that regard - playing through the Pokemon games, you don't ever have to sit and grind to move forward. I could understand it a little more if it were a boss fight or something telegraphed, but this is just a regular level.

Just to reiterate, it took many of us hours to beat this level, and that was after significant investment in time already (read: leveling, capturing, etc.). That by itself is already "too hard." It's not wise to expect an average user to be at even that level, so it's likely even harder.

To wit - I started the game with a Charmander, which means I'm naturally going to have a tougher time to proceed through. However, to beat it, I had to try different combinations of all the Pokemon I had, which took time, and then eventually had to go back, capture a second Butterfree, and then work out a strategy. Even after I had a workable strategy, it still relied on luck - the wrong combination of Pokemon in some waves spelled a loss.

At any point in a game, any user with the maximum possible gear/units/unlockables should never have this kind of challenge. It should be a breeze. As I said, I don't mind - in fact, I don't think that many of us here mind - the additional challenge, but my advice is, moving forward, if the author wants to make this a viable game to a larger public, it's probably best to keep the difficulty curve on a little smoother slope.

    ReplyDelete
  133. @Peter Thompson I completely agree with @LanderZ also you need to remember this is a game in progress not completed so in a couple of weeks when the level cap raises it will become easier for those that are struggling. If people are struggling now then they should have sense to go back a level and strengthen there team just like you would in the original game if you ran ahead way to fast. I think its a great balance to be honest I mean its a tower defense game after all It would be boring if it did not have a cretin aspect of strategy involved with it. Great update Sam, a few bugs to fix (I wont bother stating them as they have already been stated multiple times) apart from that you have took a good step into making it more strategic making us use moves other than just the most powerful attack :)

    ReplyDelete
  141. This was a tough level. I had to actively switch the position of my Pidgeotto as well as my moves which was something I had never done before.

Great update thought Sam, and I'm excited to see what comes next.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Ugh...Just passed the 50k money mark while trying to get a clefairy.

I've seen about a dozen, but they always either get by in the green or else get killed without going into the reds first.

At least I won't need to worry about money anytime soon, but bleugh. I just want a clefairy... o.O

    ReplyDelete
  154. Think accessibility. Don't make the user grind too much.

    ReplyDelete
  155. And just now 2 spawned in a single wave, both of which I caught. I guess grumbling about it helped.

Next up, getting a shiny pikachu...

    ReplyDelete
  156. can u make paras come up as much as pikachu...?
i always kill them off and takes another hr trying to get another wave

    ReplyDelete
  157. How do i get my mystery Gift?

  158. Been playing for hours and still haven't caught that darn shiny pikachu,(not complaining actually burns time and is fun)but has anyone caught the shiny yet?

    ReplyDelete
  159. can anyone tell me the differences if there is any between red and blue

    ReplyDelete
  160. please upload this to kongregate.com

  161. Just a little fyi if no one has mentioned this yet but there's a glitch on the new level. I beat it and all of brock's geodudes were gone. Also, one of the boss geodudes was frozen, it had zero health but did not disappear

    ReplyDelete
  162. Just beat it with a radicate on the bottom right and another on the bottom left (scary face). Ekans in the middle (screech). Mankey (fury swipes) and pikachu (electro ball) on the side with normal pokemon. Ivysaur (razor leaf) on the side with geodude. Switched mankey/pikachu back and forth with ivysaur.

    ReplyDelete
  163. um do you think you could tell us a good lineup for mt. moon plz

    ReplyDelete
  164. The geodudes that are blue need to be heavily tweaked and need it badly. I can deal with the other pokemon ok but the geodude is scaled way too high. even using dragon rage which does 40HP without fail is not making that gauge budge. Do they got like 400HP? cut that HP down and cut it down a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Magnitude's description says it should damage everything within range but it only damages the first pokemon. Not to big of a problem, just a little misleading.

    ReplyDelete
  166. when my poke'mon reach level 20, they don't acquire anymore experience...Is this the max level, and from here I have to level up with a 'stone'

    ReplyDelete
  167. The max level is 20 until Sam updates again and adds more levels.

    ReplyDelete
  168. I beat the level every time now..... I have one the left side my raticate using scary face and charmelon using dragon rage and mankey using sciesmic toss but switch mankeys move to fury swipes during normal pokemon. One the right side I have pikachu using tail whip and pigeotto using quick attack and nidirino using double kick. Thats how I did it.

    ReplyDelete
  169. How do you get a Mystery Code for the Mystery Gift? Is says to go to this web page but I'm not seeing any codes. And is it a daily thing, weekly or what?

    ReplyDelete
  170. Hey guys I JUST beat it with Charmeleon as well.

Here is the pokemon I used and their attack.

    Pigeotto(lvl 20) - Whirlwind
    Charmeleon(lvl 20) - Dragon Rage
    Nidoking(lvl 20) - Double Kick
    Fearow(lvl 20) - Aerial Ace
    Clefable(lvl 18) - Double Slap
    Mankey(lvl 20) - Fury Swipes

    Strategy:
-I put Nidoking in the middle.
-I put Charmeleon and Pigeotto on the same side as the boss geodudes
-I put the other three on the opposite side of the boss geodudes
-theres alot of micromanaging, having to switch sides repeatedly and even then it doesn't always work.
    - there was only one of brock's geodudes left at the end.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Just a thought, maybe you should make a pokedex log for all the pokemon you've caught. I think it would be pretty cool to be able to fill that up, instead of ignoring the pokemon you don't really care to catch.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Hey Sam, just wanted to come in again and say great work on the new level!

Also I COMPLETELY agree with what Peter Thomas has said above, this level is insanely difficult (especially with charmander starter), imagine anyone who hadn't gotten all their pokemon to level 20 with a few hours of gameplay because they had nothing else to do in the game.

I still haven't beaten the level after hours of work on it tonight. I'm really trying to stick to one of each pokemon but I feel this level almost requires that you multiple of one or two. (at least without squirtle or bulbasaur)

I do now have nidoking and nidoqueen + level 20 sandshrew, geodude and zubat. haven't been able to catch one of the few clefairy I've seen yet.

    ReplyDelete
  173. whooo i beat it!
Charmilion- Dragon rage mainly on boss geodudes
    Pikachu - electro ball
    Beedrill- string shot in middle
    Butterfree- confusion
Nidorino- double kick mainly on boss geodudes
Pideoto- quick attack but whirlwind on the last three geodudes that come at the end

finally:) takes a lot of moving stuff around. thought it was impossible at first

    ReplyDelete
  174. hey sam.. the prize of stone in pokemart is too much.. sorry if the english language wrong because i'm indonesian people..

    ReplyDelete
  175. Hey guys I can beat it every time with Charmeleon as my starter.

Here is the pokemon I used and their attack.

    Pigeotto(lvl 20) - Whirlwind
    Charmeleon(lvl 20) - Dragon Rage
    Nidoking(lvl 20) - Double Kick
    Fearow(lvl 20) - Aerial Ace
    Clefable(lvl 18) - Double Slap
    Mankey(lvl 20) - Fury Swipes

    Strategy:

    Map Layout:
    1.......6
    2...4...7
    3...5...8

    - Put Pigeotto at position 1.
    - Put Charmander at position 3.
    - Put Nidoking at position 4.
    - Put Clefable at position 6.
    - Put Mankey at position 7.
    - Put Fearow at position 8.

    - there will be a fair bit of micromanaging.
    - Switch Charmeleon and Pigeotto to whatever side the Strong Geodudes are on.
    - Switch the other three (Clefable, Mankey, and Fearow) to the opposite side of the strong geodude.
    - You should have 1-2 of Brock's Geodudes left at the end.

  176. I know u can get both sandshrew and ekans in bothversion because i have personally caught both of them even tho i havent beaten the level yet

    ReplyDelete

  183. can you update the game in minijuegos.com. how can i get codes for mystery gifts?

    ReplyDelete
  184. I give it two more weeks before I get tired of minimal weekly updates to a simple flash tower defense game. I have a feeling that I'm not alone on this.

Seriously. It's a sprite based flash game. Release a full game before everyone gets bored.

    ReplyDelete
  185. this is what i had to do to beat your new level

    http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/8281/whatihadtodo.jpg

yes it's real, no photoshop, your faulty programming gave me +attack per level, so i can make a level 1000 pokemon that can 1 hit anything

just curious if you can forward me the codes for each sprite/move, i'm interested in modding it for my personal satisfaction, but i dont wanna do any more without asking :)

  189. Could you incorporate some sort of volume control onto the game? I like that you use the original battle music, but it is very loud compared to anything else I am using on my computer as I play it in the background. Other than that, it's a great play.

    ReplyDelete
  190. @anon who posted that guide for charmeleon

Thank you so much! I had some trouble getting it to work (probably because I didn't want to evolve clefairy yet), but finally got it when one got threw but then brought brocks geodude back towards the right side because of whirlwind, so none of the left side guys could get him around wave 7 so then I focused my defense on the right side.

  191. Clefairy spawn is really small.... and the red bar is also very small... either i kill it or it is green

    ReplyDelete
  194. First of all, congratulations on making an incredible game! I do, however, have a few suggestions I'd like to make.

First of all, regarding Mt. Moon 1: the difficulty needs to be reduced. Previous commenters have pointed this out already, but it is practically impossible to beat that level without a party of six Lv. 20 pokemon. That might be fine for some people here, since they've been training their pokemon inbetween updates, but it makes the game almost inaccessible for new (or more casual) players. None of the previous levels have such a large difficulty spike, and it requires an hour or two of level grinding (if not more) in order to be feasible. It also requires such a large degree of strategy that if you picked the wrong Pokemon for your main party, or if you picked the wrong moves, you're forced to go and train a new pokemon from scratch. For me, that kills the fun factor. I'm glad that the game is challenging; but it should challenge my mind, not my ability to sit in front of the computer for hours.

Second, a mute button would be appreciated. I'm aware that you can mute the game in the options menu, but it would be nice if we could mute the game in the middle of a battle. As it stands, you have to wait until the battle is over, press the back button four times, and when you go back to play your game, you have to reassemble you pokemon team. Its not a huge deal, but its kind of annoying.

Third, I would like the option to control the speed of the game. This would make level/money grinding a little more bearable, if you have your mind set on the current level of difficulty.

Fourth, it might be a mistake to assume that everyone is familiar with Pokemon. Perhaps you could add an in-game menu button that shows what types are strong/weak against others (and which Pokemon evolve from stones, that might curb some confusion). It would also be nice to know, in advance, how closely you intend to follow the original games. For example, Pikachu traditionally stops learning new moves when he evolves into Raichu; if that's the case in your game as well, I might want to hold on to that thunder stone I purchased.
