Welcome again! Let's get to it! We've got some great things coming out this week, so let's talk about them.

New Mystery Gift
Again we will put it up for vote on the poll. Some of you commented that I shouldn't put such popular pokemon such as Riolu on it since it would obviously win the poll. Note taken! I took one of the commenter's suggestion for the poll this week. Let's see what happens! The options will be Klink, Trubbish, Vanillite, and Foongus. (Thanks Missingno. Master!)

New Story Level
The new level will have the conclusion to the events of the last level and introduce Route 30. Meaning new pokemon to capture!

New Pokemon Center Feature: Daily Challenge!
For PTD1 we had something called the daily code. For a certain amount of pokedollars you could get some nice prizes. This was fine and dandy but we are taking it to the next level in PTD2. Introducing Daily Challenges!

Okay so first of all we will have a new type of coin called "daily coins" that you will get by completing Daily Challenges. These coins will let you purchase shiny pokemon! For people who will complain that it's not fair for those who bought snd coins it is good to note that it won't be easy to collect enough coins to get a rare shiny pokemon. But for everybody who can't or won't want to buy SnD coins there is now a way to slowly build up enough coins to get one.

The first challenge will be to capture 30 of a certain pokemon and give them to the old man in the Daily Challenge section (which will come out this week).

The first time you do this in the current day you will get 10 daily coins. You can actually repeat the quest as much as you want during that day but you will only get 1 daily coin after doing it once. The next day the quest will reset. So basically first time you do it in that day you get 10 then the rest are 1 and so on every day. This is similar to the Daily Quest in World of Warcraft, except you can repeat them.

Some of the prices for the shiny will range from the hundreds to the thousands depending on rarity.

Also the quest will change every so often to offer some variety in what you will be doing. Sometimes it will be to capture a bunch of pokemon, other times to level up a specific pokemon, or complete a certain amount of trades with different people, or bringing him shinies.

I want to hear what you guys think about it!

And Other Items
This one person complained that I had some items in the list for a long time, and while others pretty much explained why this was I wanted to comment on it publicly. Basically I have things in the list that are somewhat high priority but every week I get things that I consider higher in priority so I put them above those other ones. If I ever get a good chance to make them happen then I will but for now they will just keep getting dragged a long as we go. The list helps me a lot to keep track of what I need to be doing so it helps me probably more than it helps you guys.

Alpha v1.23 is now out! New Route 30! New Pokemon to capture! Find out what happens after Giovanni shows up!
  • Give Shadow Hoppip the proper attacks
  • Changed the way confusion works - Instead of having a 25% chance of doing damage to the target for a period of time. It will be a 25% chance for the target not to do its attack and instead take damage over a period of time.
  • Increased the cooldown on moves that buff or debuff - If a move only buffs or debuffs by one level it was increased to 2.4 seconds. If it buffs or debuffs by two levels then it was increased to 3.6 seconds.

Comments

  1. Tuesday? happy Tuesday sam!

    ReplyDelete
  2. Sam can you work on the story level more than ever because I love doing the story level

    ReplyDelete
  3. I like the sound of the daily challenges, can't wait for that! And thanks for taking my suggestion, Sam! And now, a message for all of you... please, oh please, oh PLEASE vote for Trubbish!!! I mean, I love all the choices personally, but Trubbish is one of my favorite Pokemon. Not my all time favorite (that would be Weezing), but not far off.

    ReplyDelete
  4. The ground one middle stage is basicly a chicken?!

    ReplyDelete
  5. No problem, doesn't look good for Trubbish tho >.<

    ReplyDelete
  6. oh, and sam. could you look up my comment(s) in the last blog? they really will help me and others

    ReplyDelete
  7. Sam, when you update the map UI, maybe you should do it like a Pokepad graphic. That way, the "save", "poke-pad", and "exit" buttons would look like buttons on a piece of technology instead of just random red buttons. Also the current time could be there in either digital clock mode or with an analog clock icon.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Sam can you please implement happiness??? I want a Lucario!

    ReplyDelete
  9. I love trubbish and foongus but dont know which one to vote on..

    ReplyDelete
  10. The Electric line is fantastic. So many concepts working effectively with one another! Tusks as Magnet Poles is genius. The progression found in each evolution is great; exactly what an evolution should be.

The Ground line is probably my least favourite of the 6 so far. Not only due to the slight ambiguity of its typing, but also because the basic and middle stages look incredibly lifeless. Granted, I know they are WIP, but the middle stage looks just like a drawn chicken, with a torso that vaguely looks like a rock, but could easily be mistaken for the definition of its wing to its body.

The Mythical line is entertaining, and definitely is justified as "Mythical". Whilst the middle stage reminds me of an adolescent My Little Pony, that's actually on the right track... It harbours a sense of potential that is the Pegasus of a final evolution.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Hi Sam,
The electric type looks so much cooler than the other two... can't you make the ground and mythicle types cooler? btw, i LOVE this game! :D Youre doing a great job! :D

    ReplyDelete
  12. I love that you have taken the more favored pokemon out of the polls, I'd like to see more from earlier gens though

Also I like the Electric Starter the most

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hey Sam, I found some bugs in PTD 2, can't get a female cyndaquil or totodile, also a minor one, when you fail or back out of the shadow pokemon kidnappers level, your starter follows the character and during the 2nd time the cut-scene is played your starter is in two places (the original cut-scene spot and following the player)

    ReplyDelete
  14. A unicorn and pegasus in one monster sure is mythical :D
I dislike the ground starter, mostly because the 2nd stage seems to evolve in another direction than the 3rd stage (fat, dumb, chickenish, defensive/ hard and energetic, offensive, just look at the eyes). However, that kinda worked out with Slakoth and Vigoroth and I might get used to it.
The other two are just great, you and your team clearly listened to the complaints on the first 3 starters. If you implement the idea of alternate forms from a comment on another blog, the unicorn-pegasus should have a spiked iroquis :D

    ReplyDelete
  15. I basically know only the first 3 gen. of pokemon. So I picked according to how they looked. I chose the vanilla one because I like vanilla icecream (unlike the most popular chocolate). I for some reason expected klinx to be first, but who knows

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hi Sam, I agree with xDaleFish, the Electric starter is pretty neat. The ground starter and its evolutions look like flying types.
I'm torn between trubbish and Klink though. I voted for Klink before.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Oh, and for the later polls, my suggestions are Wurmple and/or Nosepass because I like how Wurmple has two different choices of evolution, kind of like how you can make choices in creature universe. And Noseppass is hilarious, lol

    ReplyDelete
  18. Trubbish is cool! Go T-dawg! Who do you think is a better pollution pokemon, Trubbish or Muk?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hey Sam, in Creature Universe, it looks like more work has been put into the electric starter than the other 2, they ground one looks too plain.
For ptd2, I like the idea of a daily challenge but, I have some doubts about people creating multiple accounts and getting more shinies than they are supposed to.
Also, will you be adding shiny riolu like you did with zorua to adoption?

      Delete
  19. Trubbish, hands down. Garbodor is pretty badass, too.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'd vote Trubbish. Foongus is cool, but we have two different Grass-types available to us already.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think the Daily Challenges are a great idea! Perhaps you should lower SnD coin cost of shinies in light of them?

As for the new evolutions, I agree with everyone that the electric is just awesome. As for the ground, I actually really like the middle evolution. The rock chicken is hilarious and fantastic. However I don't think the progression is too logical, for instance the beak goes curved, straighter, more curved. That should be a more logical progression. Also, I'd like to see more of the rock body in the middle evolution pronounced in the final evolution in some way. The mythical creature looks great, though I certainly hope that's not the color :P if we could see some potential colorings of these starters (not just a single shade) that would be awesome.

    Keep up the good work!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I really like the idea of daily coins but I also think that repeating it could be a bad idea. If it's a quest like showing the old man shinies, couldn't this be done unlimited times relatively quickly if you already have the shinies he wants?

    ReplyDelete
  23. I really love the daily coins idea.

    ReplyDelete
  24. hey sam u made a few typo errors in your blog

    ReplyDelete
  25. I just thought the second half evolution meaningless.

    ReplyDelete
  26. who is the players uncle

    ReplyDelete
  27. is the zapdos in the last update other zapdos in ptd kid

    ReplyDelete
  28. for mystery gift u can put a creature universe creature also shouldn't the ground starter line should be fighting

    ReplyDelete
  29. There's only room for one Nick on these comments...

I agree with you about the ground starter. The middle starter does seem like Vigoroth and Slakoth, although the last ground evolution looks like its cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. Another question; How come the final evolution for the ground and fire both have the same fist thing going on?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Why is ice cream winning? We must stand by Trubbish in these hard times! Join me in chorus!
Stand by MEEEE.... STAND BY ME!

    ReplyDelete
  31. i dont understand it either....... how can ice cream win..... its kind of a dumb pokemon (sorry to those who think otherwise) i mean..... its based on ice cream..... not really a cool design for a pokemon..... i feel like they got desperate for ice types.... Ps, out of the four, klink seems like the best choice, new type to add, and a decent looking pokemon

    ReplyDelete
  32. so, i like the new creatures, though the horse one might be a bit too pink, id suggest a different color scheme entirely, less girly and all. Loving the idea for the electric type. For a color scheme, id say make the white areas a yellow color, the shadey gray areas could be a metallic grey, then for the stripped part have it be grey and black as it looks (minus the yellow added in). For the ground, nice and simple. I hope the color goes from purple to more brown or tan, Looks kinda like the bird has girl parts in the chest region btw.

    ReplyDelete
  33. i vote vannile because this is the only pokemon that evolve three times and i love the pokemons that evolve three time the most

    ReplyDelete
  34. I told Sam about this in an earlier blog and he said he was actually thinking about it, so we will see

    ReplyDelete
  35. My guess is the main charecter (a.k.a.- you) in ptd 1

    ReplyDelete
  36. So there are starters for each type in Creature Universe? Sounds legit. I approve *nods*

    ReplyDelete
  37. NNNOOO....

Where is Axew this time?? :(

Anyways, I would want Klink more. But, I guess Vanillite too...

    ReplyDelete
  38. Axew is too popular.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hey Sam, I was wondering if there would be any way you could implement a back system on the PTD 2 (and 1 if possible) page. Say I'm playing and grinding and stuff and I accidentally click the back button, or some other link that'll take me away from the page before I'm allowed to save. Is there anyway there could be a notification window of sorts that'll pop up in such instances saying something along the lines of "this action will take you away from our kickass game: are you sure you wanna do this?" with corresponding yes/no answers or maybe even "would you like to save before exiting this page?" I hope this is possible. thanks much! :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. dude, vanillite and its evolutions are the first and only pokemon to be designed in america.... how sad is that shit? :-/

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think klinklang has too much going on. The appearance is rather...full. Vanillux doesn't look good. Garbodor was just a terible idea by Nintendo in my opinion. I like fire pokemon, but I think Amoongus looks better than the other three final evolutions.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I like the Ice Cream...PROBLEM? ._.
    Vallinite is so cute :3

    ReplyDelete
  43. You realize those are just concepts, right? They are subject to change.

    ReplyDelete
  44. hey sam, i want to speak about few things

    1. its about mystery gifts. i think mystery gifts should reward the people, who stay at the game during it developement. in my opinion it is now so that the mystery gifts are worthless, cause you can get as much as you want. maybe you can think about that you make it so that you can only get 3 mystery gifts every week. now even if you miss a mystery gift it is easy to trade for it. also i think mystery gifts should be more special. this doesnt mean that i want you to give us shiny pokemon (then the shinys would be worthless^^), but maybe you can make new avatars or so.

    2. if you now add generation 5 pokemon in the mystery gift my question is, if they will be catchable in ptd2, so that we have the chance to catch a shiny form of them. or will the only way to get them through snd coins? by the way please dont mix up the generations too much ;)

    3. one question about the daily coins. did i understand it right, that you always get 1 coin if you do the daily challange. or will there be different rewards, depending on how hard the quest is. for example the first quest give you one coin. if the next quest is harder it will give like 3 or 5 coins. i like the idea that you give people another way as snd coins to collect shinies. this should be hard, but do not make it impossible, like that you have to save coins for a year to get a rare shiny^^. by the way, did i get it right that the daily challange will replace the daily gift from ptd1 or will this also be added in the future? if yes please make it really a daily gift, cause in ptd1 it wasnt really a gift, since you have to pay for it^^

but all in all you did a great job with ptd2 ;) so what do you think about my points? oh and sorry for writing so much;)

    ReplyDelete
  45. same artist made them, also these were actually made before the water fire grass starters, fun fact!

    ReplyDelete
  46. He's just saying his opinion. Those are just suggestions. CUTDs' team don't need to make them... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  47. thanks I changed a few things that made it so your starter would show up but I forgot about this case

    ReplyDelete
  48. Hey, Garbodor was an awesome idea, OK?!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yo, I said IN MY OPINION. I ain't telling you what to think.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Couldn't be any better even if you tried.

    ReplyDelete
  51. That actually explains the design pretty well.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Vanillite is one of the main reason genwunners exist. Trubbish is funny!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Meh... They could have done better. The key word is idea. If they didn't have a straw/cannon/pipe/ whatever that is on the second hand, it would be progress. It's a garbage bag. A garbage bags with arms. It could have been improved on, but Alas, it was not.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Amerihurr... #DERP

    ReplyDelete
  55. Critique on color schemes is definitely useful since they haven't been decided on for sure in most cases yet. The colors I use for the promo art sketches are just kind of ballparks and in no way final. Also, my tablet's screen has the slightest yellow tint which sets things way off from what I think they are color-wise. For example, the chickens are a much more pale purple on that screen, and the unicorns are a much less pinky purple. On the flip, the elephants are much more vibrant too.

TL;DR: Colors absolutely not final, but feedback still helpful!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I think it is an essential transition from tiny bird to rock chicken.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yeah, as I explained in a previous post, we were originally not going to do fire/water/grass starters, and so these were designed much earlier when the concept of a different type cycle was in our heads. The chickens were actually the first design I ever did for the project, back when it was still just a dream!

    ReplyDelete
  58. 3. Quote from the blog post above: "The first time you do this in the current day you will get 10 daily coins. You can actually repeat the quest as much as you want during that day but you will only get 1 daily coin after doing it once." I believe this refers to all daily gifts, not just the specific example that Sam gave.

    ReplyDelete
  59. There is an actual up arrow you can press, rather than just typing ^ you know :)

    ReplyDelete
  60. Its hard to limit it to only 3 since people will create a bunch of empty accounts to get more, which takes up too much space on the database. A lot of the mystery gifts from PTD1 ended up being more rare as the game went on.

They won't be catch able for a while but with the daily challenge you can get some of them.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Am I right in assuming that most creatures won't have a single color like the posts on the blog?

    ReplyDelete
  62. I think that more generation 3 and 4 options should be included. Riolu was a step, but generation 3 is honestly my favorite.

    ReplyDelete
  63. come on.. an ice cream cone?
    Klink people!.Klink!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Face it, Klink sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Keep u the good work, Sam!

    ReplyDelete
  66. i think daily challenges is a cool idea

    ReplyDelete
  67. hay hay SAM!!!!! what about for a mystory gift shiny starters any one agree with this like it and dont ferget about PTD1 add some mystory gifts to that too dont abandone your first child

    ReplyDelete
  68. have some pokemon in my mind that could be put up for a mystery gift
    1.bagon
    2.driblur
    3.mantyke
    4.slakoth

these are all pokemon found in other regions besides kanto and johto region

    ReplyDelete
  69. I'm fine with the daily challenge, I just hope you'll add a feature where I can select multiple Pokemons at once and release them all at once. This doesn't have to be in the game and can be in the Pokemon Center. Would hate to catch 50 pidgey and then delete them one at a time. Also, I think in PTD1 the server freezes when you have more than 500 pokemon in one game, so if PTD2 has the same issue, this can get ugly quick.

    ReplyDelete
  70. the thing about choosing vanillite as the gift is that yes I agree, the design is bad, But in most games, you don't find much of any ice type until close to the end. Grabbing one early is great. Even steel will most likely be seen before ice, especially if sam implements happiness soon. We'll be seeing lots of lucario.

    ReplyDelete
  71. *sarcasm voice starts* O no. The world is going to end now because an amazing game designer made typos in a public blog. This is pure tragedy. For the record, I'd say he makes 1 every 2 weeks, if not once a week. It's not a big deal.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Hope you have noticed some typos in the previous update:
    1. dissaster-> disaster
    2. grown-up -> grown up (grown-up means adult)
    3. Giovanni is Silver's father, not grandfather, if you stick to the original game.

Are there any ways that we can get the previous avatars which are given out in mystery gift?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Bagon and drilbur are popular Pokemon.

    ReplyDelete
  74. first 2 will be fixed in the next update thanks for pointing it out
    3. This is Silver Jr (Silver's son named Silver)
I haven't incorporated different avatars yet but once I do I'll see what I can do to bring them in

    ReplyDelete
  75. To complete the challenge you have to give them to the old man so they will get deleted

    ReplyDelete
  76. PTD1 won't have any new mystery gifts

    ReplyDelete
  77. I'll see what I can do, I'm def adding it for the back button but I have to investigate about the browser, I've seen some sites doing it so it shouldn't be impossible

    ReplyDelete
  78. Something you should consider for ANPO is the ability to obtain starters that you didn't start with, without trading for them. And since you are going to be starting in multiple cities you could have a challenge given by the leader of the town or something and if you can complete it you get the starter for that city because I personally like all the starters and would like some way of getting all of them without trying to trade for them.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Very right. All of these designs, even the ones that are "pretty much just right", still need inking and final color schemes, which I/we just haven't gotten to yet. Priorities and all that!

    ReplyDelete
  80. i thought so i wasnt sure but thxs

    ReplyDelete
  81. in the next update can you make us able to trade pokemon from ptd1 but we need a badge if it is a high level

    ReplyDelete
  82. You should put Gabit and Spiritomb.

    ReplyDelete
  83. You should put Gabit and Spiritomb.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Or a Darmanitan With Zen Mode

    ReplyDelete
  85. And Add Some Fossil Pokemon Too

    ReplyDelete
  86. Hey Sam,

Would you please program a Pokemon that has an Item-stealing move soon? Tons of Rattata and Sentret in your Pokepad gets really annoying.

Your Daily Challenge idea is great!

    Keep up the good work!

    -Blastoiseman

    ReplyDelete
  87. Wow, are you trying to just rack up posts or something? Because 5 posts (these four and the one you posted right before these) just clog up the comments and make people more likely to dismiss your posts because they are annoying rather than more likely to read them as good feedback.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Awesome. Keep up the great work artists, and know that you are appreciated!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Sam, I had a quick question: one of my profiles was unable to register that I had evolved my Caterpie and Weedle into Butterfree and Beedrill respectively, yet the other one has registered them. Is it possible to get them back to being a Butterfree and Beedrill w/o having to wait for a level cap increase, or will I have to wait until then?

    ReplyDelete
  90. You could always keep them as fun souvenirs. Maybe they'll be worth something on the trade market (a caterpie with confusion is pretty novel).

    ReplyDelete
  91. Thief would be a great first TM to add I think.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I'd have to say that I like these better than the free starters even.

I agree that overall they are pretty solid and even that the ground could use some work, but it's a Rock! I mean Roc. You knew the giant bird thing. But yes, the middle stage does come across strangely.

    ReplyDelete
  93. sam, will the next story mode let the player see his/her uncle?

    ReplyDelete
  94. sam,you should really hire a helper to help you faster in progress

    ReplyDelete
  95. if anyone would like to reply a suggestion for the future mystery gift polls, reply on this post so sam can see it.

    ReplyDelete
  96. how do you have so many shinies?

    ReplyDelete
  97. actually,I only have 1 shiny which is pidgey

    ReplyDelete
  98. GARBODOR IS AWESOME though yeah what IS with that weird straw arm thing?

    ReplyDelete
  99. The idea of Daily Challenge is awesome apart from the "bringing him shinies" part since catching shinies is more luck based. For instance if the daily challenge is 2 catch a shiny pidgey n someone gets it in a few minutes and completes the challenge while someone plays for hours but in vain. So introduce a shiny challenge like the "shiny voltorb in PTD1" & a daily shiny challenge corresponding 2 the same shiny simultaneously.

    ReplyDelete
  100. for the mystery gift why not have popular pokemon so its fair
    1.Deino
    2.Axew
    3.Larvitar
    4.Bagon

P.S i don't like any of the mystery gift ideas but i chose vannilte

    ReplyDelete
  101. Also let me make my list of cool MG pokémon suggestions :3
    Drillbur
    Deino
    Axew

    ReplyDelete
  102. wow I didn't know that but kinda obvious tho because the design and idea os the pokemon kinda reminds of american Cartoons example; THE SIMSONS movie in the big screen

    ReplyDelete
  103. Axew is not gon' be on for a while. it's too popular, like the Riolu.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I doubt it.

    ReplyDelete
  105. ^
    Epic Truth

    ReplyDelete
  106. I actually think this might be cool. But wouldn't it be cooler to have Darumaka have two evolution options, kind of like an Eevee? Or maybe Darumaka would just evolve into Darmanitan fire a]mode automatically, then he could have an attack that would turn him in to Zen Mode. Then he would have a different moveset, and new stats. Maybe?

    ReplyDelete
  107. No offense, but I think my "^ this" was on the wrong comment. lol

    ReplyDelete
  108. I don't want to have a triple-dip ice cream cone for this weeks Mystery Gift. :(

    ReplyDelete
  109. Trubbish is cute too, :3 x2 U JELLY?

    ReplyDelete
  110. @593ae8e7d5eb31fc69df326ba50773c2:disqus I officially like this ^

    ReplyDelete
  111. *Gives Nick marmann a medal* This is the first man in the world to have a double-mod reply!

    ReplyDelete
  112. Okay, fine then! Make a list of all the advantages an Ice-Type early in the game would be beneficial. Oh, and, how would Sam implement happiness? The game is still a tower defense, not an RPG, no matter how close Sam can make it, it's still at heart a tower defense.

  113. a Lucario would be cool... but, OBJECTION! How would you make your Pokemon happy? Keeping them healthy isn't an option, since their health automatically fills up after battle. Maybe a working Pokemon Center that we could actually go into?

    ReplyDelete
  114. i didn't say he doesn't,
he does suck, but not as much as the others on this poll

    ReplyDelete
  115. He just pointed it out, there's nothing wrong with that.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I agree, popular pokemon are better and more wanted, so why not have them?

    ReplyDelete
  117. Is it just me, or would anyone else want to see more popular pokemon on the polls?
I mean the original idea of polls are to see what most people like or agree on. In that case, removing obvious winners make sense because you don't get anything for something winning.
But this is a poll for a mystery gift, why not add popular pokemon? I mean we will have the winner, and if it's a popular, strong pokemon, so what?
The choices don't have to be really popular pokemon, but at least good pokemon (cranidos, shieldon) or pokemon which are a more popular than the current choices (ralts, shinx) or pokemon not normally catchable (spiky-eared Pichu).
My point is, is there something wrong with having popular pokemon for the mystery gift?

    ReplyDelete
  118. Why Vanillete people? Can some one tell me why you chose him? No offence to those who did, just tell me the reason.
I can't see why to pick vanillete and not kilink, maybe different people like different pokemon, but still.....

    ReplyDelete
  119. AHH!!! OMGOSH!!!!!! I CAN"T BELIVE IT!!!! YOU USED THEM!!!!!! I"M SOOOO PSCED!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  120. This Is The Idea I Was Thinking When There Is The Victini Code But Since I Have Exams And I Can't Play So I Totally Forgot About It. So........Anyway When Can We Transfer Pokemon??? (From PTD1 To PTD2)

    ReplyDelete
  121. Likely after we reach the fourth gym in story mode (which isn't out yet).

    ReplyDelete
  122. Sam, so will we not be able to catch zubat and poliwag in route 30?

    ReplyDelete
  123. Lol, it wasn't originally so none taken. They order posts by most recent reply, so since I was replying to the top post it put mine above yours, and then Sam's above mine. This is why the up arrow is more effective :P

    ReplyDelete
  124. I like ice pokemon, and I'm looking more forward to mareep as my electric type. It usually takes a while to get ice pokemon, so it would be nice to have one soon.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Definitely. The trick is to have pokemon of similar popularity in the polls. It is nice to get some more obscure ones though :)

    ReplyDelete
  126. Sank yew vedy match! :p

    ReplyDelete
  127. hey sam, just want to ask, when you will be adding a pokedex in ptd2. once you add it, will it be like the pokedex in ptd1 or will it have more informations, for example that you can see where you can catch the pokemon. this would be awesome. keep up your great work. oh and please can you try to stop the hackers on the game. there were people with rayquaza, darkrai, lugia, etc. this is really annoying -__-

    ReplyDelete
  128. I agree. Trubbish and Vanillite are literally the most hated pokemon (most people who hate on the new generation are because of those two pokemon). It doesn't have to be a legendary pokemon, but it can be something that people will use, enjoy and that is decent.

Also, talking about legendaries... What I haven't liked about the stories in PTD and now PTD2 is that legendaries get introduced WAAAAY too early. Right now, we have our third mission and the legendary birds are already there. That sucks, the player feels "oh, cool, legendary birds!" yet the only thing he can catch so far is a pidgey.
There has to be a buildup, so that when the player encounters a legendary pokemon for the first time, it feels epic. Right now, we have to fight Zapdos (an epic boss) with our extremely weak, unevolved pokemon. Next wave we'll be fighting caterpies. See how the excitement goes down?

I may not be a game designer, but I've worked 2 years in the game industry as a programmer, and have worked with good and bad designers.

Also, the ground starter for Creature Universe is a bird? Ground is usually the opposite of birds.

  129. 1. zebstrika
    2.deino
    3.munchlax
    4. drilbur

  131. I need help. I've put the mystery code in multiple times and each time I double check to see if its right and it always is yet for some reason it doesn't work. Is it not valid anymore?

    ReplyDelete
  132. I do have a question, ( I apologize if it has already been asked but i didn't find the answer)

How do you intend to handle Happiness Evolutions, like Riolu ?

That's all, Nice work on the game !

    ReplyDelete
  133. I don't really like any of the mystey gift pokemon on the polls right now, either.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I just double checked and the code still works. Here's a hint, it starts with 93.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Sam said (much further down in these comments) that he intends to implement happiness "pretty soonish", so once we have that we'll be able to do happiness evolutions. As to how happiness itself will work, I imagine it will be much like the gameboy games.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Well, at least nothing with Vanillite.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Yeah, it's good to have obscure ones once in a while, and I agree that Vanillite is lame. But Trubbish is funny, just like how when you first saw a slowpoke, you squeed.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Thanks for the info. Which mystery gift do you want?

    ReplyDelete
  139. If you don't like any, why did you pick one at all?

    ReplyDelete
  140. Trubbish and Garbodor is cool! Kling would be good too.. BUT WHY, O WHY MUST WE HAVE VANILLITE!?! *ahem*

    ReplyDelete
  141. This might be a good website for you to choose which Pokemon would be good to put up in the poll. http://www.misterpoll.com/polls/446127/results

Basically, I looked up for online websites where you can vote on your favorite Pokemon for free. This one and others may help you decide on Pokemon that are more even in popularity. So everyone here should vote at these websites to make them more accurate. In the one above, Charizard is actually winning (and in a few other ones I checked too).
So basically, look at old polls to determine how to make a fair new poll.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Wait... because of effective leveling, we can now transfer pokemon from ptd1 (kanto) into here. so a lvl 100 Mew would be lvl 10 so that it won't destroy everything. What do you think, Sam?

    ReplyDelete
  143. have some pokemon in my min for mystery gift
    axew
    dratini
    gabite
    horsea

    ReplyDelete
  144. feebas
    magicarp
    goldeen
    and somthing else

    ReplyDelete
  145. i got some pokemon that would be good in mystery gift
    1.abra
    2.gastly
and why not maybe som other starter pokemon one off my favorite is charmander

    ReplyDelete
  146. Good Mystery gift pokemon would probably be:
    Klink
    Lunatone
    Cherubi
    Sableye

    ReplyDelete
  147. A thought, though... How will Slakoth/Slaking's Truant function in PTD?

    ReplyDelete
  148. I think capture 30 pokemons are a little overkill. A daily challenge should be something you can do quick, so you got time to do it each day. And i think the idea about you being able to do it more times each day, is a bad idea too

    ReplyDelete
  149. I like Vanillite...
I just don't like the fact they grow Ice Cream Cones for Evolution; Vanilluxe just looks retarded.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Aw Pokemaster, be honest. You're just saying that cause you want Spiky-eared Pikachu. hahaha

    ReplyDelete
  151. The correct is "MewThree". X D

    ReplyDelete
  152. I'm sorry, but I can't accept that medal, as I am not a man (Lol)

What happened to Sam's reply, and where did I get a double-mod reply?

    ReplyDelete
  153. what's with the common pokes? Why not do something rare? not just one, but four.rare pokes. Here's a good way:

    Skymary
    Bagon
    Larvitar
    Houndour

See these are rare pokes, but there is no common they can annihilate in the competition. These all are pokes people like, but they are all against each other. Say if Skymary wins, You can use this set of pokes instead.
    Bagon
    Larvitar
    Hondour
    Spiked-ear Pikachu

    ReplyDelete
  154. They be popular. End of story.

    ReplyDelete
  155. It is for shinies, so shouldn't be easy. I would want a challenge like beating that Zapdos with at least 30 Pokemon on the field. Then I would have a sense of accomplishment.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Yah, but they all are popular. What would you rather have rattata, or Lapras? of course Lapras, but what would you rather have, Lapras or Kangaskan? Now that would be a tough choice.

    ReplyDelete
  157. No, lapras would win. For you it may be hard, but most people would choose lapras. It is something like a choice between magicarp, feebas, chingling, sunken, and hoppip. They are all useless and nobody likes them.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Hmmm... Maybe instead...
    1) Blitzle
    2) Drilbur
    3) Ducklett
    4) Sandile
    5) Munchlax
    6) Wurmple/Sewaddle/Venipede

    7) Shinx
    8) Combee
    9) Aron
    10) Azurill/Marill

No Zebstrika, Blitzle first. No Deino, its too powerful and we already have a dark type.

    ReplyDelete
  159. driblur isnt but bagon is so instead of bagon how about numel an unpopular fire type

    ReplyDelete
  160. dont really know but it would be a good mystery gift

    ReplyDelete
  161. dont like your mystery gift ideas besides bagon and deino

    ReplyDelete
  162. i have some questions for you sam
    1.will there be a ptd 3?
2.will ptd 2 have 8 gyms or 16 like pokemon heartgold and soulsilver?
3.when will 1vs1 mode have the multiplayer feature you mentioned in one of the previous blogs ??????

    ReplyDelete
  163. first off, I'd like to say I like the new ANPO designs, but I'm not all for every type has a starter. It's too complex I think. Do between 3 and 5 that all share the same number of type advantages and disadvantages to other starters. Secondly, as for the mystery gifts in PTD2, please start doing less rare and powerful ones and more shiny/shadow. I do like having the rare and powerful ones, however they ARE RARE FOR A REASON. Starting out the game, I'm all for giving early players good Pokemon, however I just want to ask that you eventually go to shiny/shadow versions of more common pokemon.

    ReplyDelete
  164. I actually chose vanillite because usually it takes forever to get an ice type, and I think it would be fun to have one from the get go. I think the pokemon is stupid though :P If I could choose any pokemon for a mystery gift though (excluding legendaries), I would probably choose torchic or spheal because blaziken and walrein are two of my favorites. What about you?

    ReplyDelete
  165. That's cool! Wish we could sort the results though.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Part of the problem is that Sam would have to add all original 151 pokemon to the game, which will take a lot of time, because it's a different engine from PTD 1. I think that this was part of Sam's plan though :)

    ReplyDelete
  167. How about one of these (seeing that they are all fish)
    Relicanth

    Finneon

    or Basculin

    ReplyDelete
  168. Catching pokemon is so easy though. You just have to find the exact right moves to get pokemon in the red and then click and drag.

    ReplyDelete
  169. I don't think first gen pokemon make good mystery gifts because we'll be able to transfer them from PTD 1 later.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Sam I have a question. It may be stupid, but it did not specifically say above and it might change some people's view on your new idea.

When you said that 10 points first try that day and rest of them 1 for the daily challenge, are you referring to the game day or the real life day?

Again sorry if it seems plain obvious for some of you guys, but I just want to be sure.

    ReplyDelete
  171. No. I'm not. I'm not going to Sam's doorstep, begging for spiky-eared pichu or anything. I'm saying that I would rather have the really good and popular pokemon.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Well yeah, he's a strong pokemon, but he looks really ugly (for me).

    ReplyDelete
  173. Some obscure ones are nice. I agree. But I would take axew over all of them, wouldn't you?

    ReplyDelete
  174. You mean you don't want a powerful pokemon?

    ReplyDelete
  175. Sam, an idea I had for metapod or kakuna is that if they see the player in the overworld, then they use harden and if you battle them, all pokemon in that battle would have harden automatically

    ReplyDelete
  176. What the- how did Trubbish get down to 27 votes?! Are people changing their votes?! Am I the only one who will stand by Trubbish?

    ReplyDelete
  177. Don't get me wrong, I love the deino line. If they are released too early, however, it may be a replacement starter. Why do you think starters are only fire-water-grass? Its so a theoretical balance is created. Once that balance is broken with a hugely powerful pokemon, it takes away the gameplay that was intended.
