There won't be a release this week because Sam had some finals to study for but everyone has been working on things that'll be in the next update. Now that we have several artists helping us out we should be able to start adding more content each release. Loot drops, equipment/inventory saving, and character progression are soon to come along with some other things. We've also been researching more ways to improve performance and prepare for other platforms.

Some other changes we may be making is increasing the available unit placements for the heroes. Most unavailable spaces would just be blocked by some sort of environmental obstacle or away from the edges to prevent some other issues. However, there will also be another layer of placements to accommodate non-grounded units like flying pets or a hero with a levitation effect on them. This will allow for more variation and strategy which is always nice.

Another topic of discussion lately has been crafting/trade skills/professions (whatever you want to call them) and how they could work. We plan to have a lot of flexibility when it comes to changing the customization of your heroes. For example, you'll be able to change their hair color and hairstyle by doing something simple such as going to a nearby town. You'll also be able to alter the look and stats of your weapons through blacksmithing (either in town or perhaps through one of your characters). So say you have a sword with good stats and then you find a cooler looking sword later on that you like but it doesn't have very good stats, or vice versa. You could use a blacksmith to change your current sword to look like the other sword. So now you have a sword with the same stats but it has the new look. There may be some limitation to this in that it has to be the same type, e.g. a sword to a sword, not a sword to mace. The same could be used for customizing the way your armor looks.

Of course, you'll also be able to gather materials and create weapons from scratch. This would probably work like your typical RPG and allow you to break down other items to gain materials. Also, you'll likely acquire rare materials from bosses and quests that could lead to more powerful items.

we're throwing around some other ideas for crafting but I'm curious to hear from you guys about what you'd like to see or any ideas you might have. So leave us some of your suggestions in the comments and we'll be sure to check them out, thanks!

    1. I like some aspects of the TF2 system for crafting.

Obviously, it would need to be tweeked to fit with the RPG genre but overall, it's not bad.
(Mainly, I mean the breaking down of weapons into base materials which can be used to make other weapons)

I'm not so much a fan of, in TF2, where you use the scrap metal with a weapon to make another weapon of the same type. I'd prefer the crafting itself to be more like Minecraft, where you can make things from scratch (with the right materials)

Basically, I'd like to be able to turn old weapons which I no longer have a use for into scrap materials which I could use to make other weapons.

I hope I managed to get my point across. Thanks.

      1. Yeah, I understand what you mean. We were thinking of actually having a combination of the two systems. So you could change the weapon to another of the same type so you can just change the look and not lose the weapon but you can also break it down entirely and make something new all together with other basic materials.

    4. More weapons :D
Can you add a store, so we can, if we want, give the same weapon to all our chars? It does not need to be anything good, just something quick made

      1. Certainly, and yes there will be a story. PTD was still finished beyond this point when it was first released, this is still a pre-alpha.

    10. can we break down things we created back to minerals if we don't want it any more
also will the weapons we make be one like one sword for the minerals we use of more then one

      1. Yes, you can break them back down. Not sure what you mean by the second sentence but basically you can make a whole new weapon or even armor from basic materials or change the look of a current weapon or armor to something of the same type.

    11. you should be able to destroy said obstacles on map for materials, i like the idea of breaking your weapons but what about enchanted weapons would be nice infinte wave mode for extra training sorta like you have now, say you had a lv 10 15 and 30 charecter(not sure how realistic these numbers are, but you get the point. you could enter a lv 35 dungeon on infinite mode and keep going til you lose or you get to lv 35 the longer you can keep going the better the loot.

      1. Breaking obstacles on the map is an interesting idea, will have to think about that.
Your weapons wouldn't break, like you wouldn't have to repair them. You can break them down into materials though if you wanted to in order to make something else out of it.
Enchanted weapons is also possible, that could maybe be from a skill or some other means.

    12. I know Your busy with PTD2 and HTD but Ive been thinking for awhile maybe you could add a full screen mode for PTD and HTD/PTD2 the whole moving and zoom thing can get really annoying and the spaces for your pokemon get int he way a lot.

    15. could you please not start the story with undead. im getting sick of killing already dead things and every rpg game of any kind starts things with undead.

      ReplyDelete

      1. Haha, it certainly won't start off with undead but we'll have various undead creatures eventually. They are a staple for any RPG! :P

    16. make a game coin that does not need money then we can buy character from a shop and make samdancoins shop to buy the awesome character

      1. There will be in-game currency that you can do things with. The SnD Coins come in for cosmetic only items or saving you time by using the in coins to buy something instead of doing some long quest. However, you won't be able to buy anything that makes you better than anyone else. In other words, there won't be some awesome weapon/armor with stats better than anything else available in the game that you can only buy with coins, I hate that.
