What's New
It has been chaos, to say the least, these past couple of weeks. For the first time in my life I moved out of my parents house and into my own apartment. All of this in preparation for my wedding which is 2 short months from now! Chaos might have been a soft word. With all the moving also came computer problems. I had to take my development computer to be fixed and now my old computer is giving me trouble. I've never had this much trouble before! While I haven't been able to really sit down and work on anything my mind has not stopped thinking about what and who is making all of this possible. You guys and gals are the reason I'm able to push my life into the next stage and I'm able to wake up every day and think about making video games instead of coding something I have no interest in for somebody I don't even really know. Because of that I will give it my all as long as you guys will have me.
I did manage a few things, Cosmoids got a small update, some tweaks on the first level to make it a bit shorter and some massive changes to the tutorials so they are easier to understand and more to the point.
Speaking of Cosmoids...
Designing a game before coding it
The way I make Pokemon Tower Defense is that each week I think about what to work on next and early in the week I will make a plan, write the blog with my plan and then I try to accomplish my plan. In more detail this means I'm making it up as I go. Each week I think about where the story could go. While I have some very basic plans for the overall story, the lines of dialog and the different events that will happen are not planned out months in advance. At the most I will have an idea like having Mewthree win, and then slowly during the week I will think about how this will happen. Same with the battles, ptd1 transfers, new attacks. Having been doing this for a few years now I can see that there are benefits to this method. The main benefit is the speed that you can put things out. There are however some drawbacks to this style. I think an obvious example is the Avatars in PTD1. Your player doesn't have an avatar until later in the game. This is the result of not having time to add it initially but then eventually getting the time and figuring out how to add it in. Going back and adding it to all the previous levels would have been a big undertaking that would have stalled the game updates so I was never willing to do it. At the same thing I think it is odd to add new things as you go and having the old content not take advantage of these things.
So for Cosmoids I want to design the game in advance before I make it. What this means is that I will be coming up with the levels and moves in advance before I actually code them. Then I will see what everything looks like and be able to implements new things into the whole game instead of just adding them as I go. So far I have designed up to level 5. My goal for the game is for it to have about 40ish levels before I consider it complete.
Designing a level doesn't take a very long time but making it interesting, challenging, and fun can be quite a challenge. For Cosmoids we are following a similar formula that PTD1 has. You watch a story scene then you play the level and you watch another story scene. So the first thing you have to think about is where is your story at. What happened in the previous level, in the previous story scene and where do you want the story to go and how will it tie into the next Cosmoids you want to use on the next level. Then you think about what attacks should this new Cosmoid have and how is it different from the others. What kind of different role can it take. Finally using those new attacks you create an idea for how the level itself will play. What will be the challenge on the level. How will you test the player. Will it be a puzzle or the ability to dodge moves. Or will he have to have Cosmoids that have high defense. A lot of thought goes into making each level. So being able to focus on just the design lets you do it quick and it also lets you see the big picture quicker which can hopefully lead to the game feeling more unified.
Going to the past: The next PTD2 Story Update
It's going to be a good one! Mewthree has taken over the world with his massive clones, your friends, family and heroes are about to be captured. Celebi, the time traveling pokemon, shows up and offers you a chance to save the world but you must go to the past to change it! This update will have you going to the past. You will be able to visit the locations that you have already visited but 10 years into the past. In the world you aren't born yet and Silver is still alive! What can do you to stop the events in the future? Only time will tell.
The past will be a different place, while the maps themselves will look the same, you can expect more people to be around, and different house and buildings to be accessible.
You will be able to enter the poke mart and buy items. You will be able to enter the pokemon center and rest until night time, day time or early morning. Essentially giving you control over the time of day. There will be more trainer battles in the Routes.
Another cool feature is that you can travel back to the future! Talking to celebi from your pokepad will allow you to travel back a few moments before Mewthree took over the region, allowing you to replay old battles or talk to people in the future after finding out more about them in the past.
There is a lot of content to be added to make this update possible and I hope you guys enjoy the things I have planned.

ReplyDeleteYay, 1st besides Sam!
ReplyDelete@samOtero Will you be adding a new shiny legendary for people that donate $15?
ReplyDelete@samOtero Will you be adding a new Shiny Legendary for $15 donations?
ReplyDeleteThe new PTD 2 update sounds exciting!
ReplyDeleteSam, will the next update make it at all easier to train Pokémon? Right now, our best bet for leveling up our Pokémon is that guy with the Crobat (which you nerfed in terms of Exp. output, by the way), and given that the Pokémon I'm currently working on leveling up include Tropius and Mienfoo... Yeah, it's not that easy. I'm trying to, at this point, at least have everything at level 40. But I also want to evolve my Mienfoo, and that's not possible until level 50!
ReplyDeleteWow! The new update is going to be awesome! By the way I can't wait for the shadow/ shiny Celebi to be available. I hope your sponsor will give you the code as soon as possible. Beside that great work; keep It up.
ReplyDeleteYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO L-M-GIIIIFFFFTTTTTT
ReplyDeleteSam, will u introduce shiny shadow pokemons like shadow mewthree?
ReplyDeleteSam, can you please add an in-game option to delete pokemon? My pokemon got duplicated, which you said was fine but I think I have too many pokemon. When I try to trade a pokemon, it takes me 30 minutes to load PART of my pokemon list. I need to delete some pokemon but I can't do that the way that it is currently set up. I can't delete if I can't even load it. So please Sam add an in-game option to delete pokemon.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the celebi mystery gift?
ReplyDeleteYou know I just finished watching a couple of episodes of Steins;Gate when I read this blog post.
ReplyDeleteSHADOW CELIBIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!
technically, it already is possible, since he never put in a code to keep shinies from being shadows, and vice versa. Shadows and shinies are both so rare, that you won't often see a shiny shadow.
ReplyDeleteIt would be great to edit the pokemons requests that are already for trade. Calling them back to change your requests is painfully tediuos. This way we can edit the request or put the adopt for coins much easier without having to call them back to profile.
ReplyDeleteDont know if this is too hard to do, to program, but i think its an idea everyone will love and appreciate.
that would be a good feature to add one day. Can't say when that would be though...
ReplyDeleteThere's no need to level that much the pokes, we have a long way to go, doing everything now, takes out the fun for the future =P. Leave some pokes to level up later haha. Later on, i'm sure there will be waves with higher levels, so that it would be easier to lvl up our pokes.
ReplyDeleteIt's coming tonight!
ReplyDeleteIt's on my todo list but it's not super high priority
ReplyDeleteI might have some higher level fights but nothing that will be as amazing as crobat was
ReplyDeletethinking about that
ReplyDeletejust wondering, when are you going to release the next level ( level 3) for cosmoids?
ReplyDeletenot for a while, focusing more on the design of the whole game before I go back to the actual level development
ReplyDeleteCan we at least expect something that would be a bit more... agreeable for Fighting, Grass, and Bug-types?
ReplyDeleteGood point, but I just like to keep ahead of the soft level cap, you know?
ReplyDeletecan't tell at this point
ReplyDeleteHey Sam if we go back time can we battle past legendary pokemon?
ReplyDeleteSam, I think that letting donators choose how use their money for your games would be helpful.
ReplyDeleteAny gym battles?
ReplyDeleteNew blog post huh? Well this is a good time to repost my suggestion:
ReplyDelete"Hey Sam, if possible, can you add a Shift button to toggle Running Shoes?
Like you press and hold Shift while moving on direction to move faster and let go of Shift to walk?"
Great job so far Sam!
ReplyDeleteSam, just have to say that the entire Celebi idea sounds awesome! Is it possible that this idea formed from combining and fiddling the ideas we gave you, because thinking back parts of it seem similar but greatly changed.
ReplyDeleteMaybe later in the game you can meet Palkia and Dialga so that you can travel through space and time and meet the hero of Kanto from PTD 1. Or something like that.
Err... Sam? Will there also be normal Celebi since we all know Celebi can't breed?
ReplyDeletecan you please fix the apk for ptd1 it says its an old version even though its the final
ReplyDeletedo you really think he spends all the money on games? what do you suppose he feeds himself with?
ReplyDeleteI made him the same question about Jirachi some time ago, he answered yes. All pokémon will be catchable in-game.
ReplyDeleteTrainer adoptions are a great feature but when you search for a pokémon in the adoption page with the search function of your browser and if he's named eggy you have difficulties to find it. It would be very useful if every pokémon had in his proper name near his nick (example: Eggy - Bulbasaur). In that way you can find him easily.
ReplyDeleteHey sam whos your bride?
ReplyDeletecan you also make regular celebi and do you want to make an mystery giftday where all mystery gift before are avaible of ptd 2
ReplyDeleteNo and no
ReplyDeleteregular will be caught in story mode close to the end of it
ReplyDeleteI see what you mean, maybe next week I can work on that
ReplyDeletethere are some complications that don't really let me fix that
ReplyDeleteFrom the beginning I wanted to do time traveling with celebi, but you guys do influence me a lot :)
ReplyDeleteremind me next week again :) this week is pretty packed
ReplyDeleteI might do a remake of the violet city one but that would be it
ReplyDeleteyou mean almost like you want me to focus on a certain aspect over others?
ReplyDeleteI believe it powers up steel moves, I need to fix that tree thing tho lol, maybe that's why people can't find it...
ReplyDeletepossibly, not sure what you fully mean
ReplyDeleteword
ReplyDeletewhich map can we catch it?
ReplyDeletecan't catch it yet, but later on after you can get the 8 badges
ReplyDeleteCan you make also an mystery gift day
ReplyDeletePTD 2 is getting boring.
ReplyDeletewe just got 1 badges now. it will be very long time to go.
ReplyDeleteHi Sam,
ReplyDeleteI wanted to inform you about a problem regarding the Trainer Adoption List: on the Trainer Adoption List Hacked pokemons don't have their tags, therefore It happens that you buy a pokemon thinking It's not hacked only to find out It is and this is quite annoying. Can you please take care of It? Thanks.
How can you get Corsola?
ReplyDeletefixed :)
ReplyDeletesorry to hear that
ReplyDeletecorrect
ReplyDeletesam I'm crazy for a turtwig and Piplup so I can put them thank
ReplyDeleteI'm still waiting for my Idea the battle arena.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much.
ReplyDeleteI have a suggestion: Maybe you could make it so that we can request for Pokemon with SnD coins? So, like, put 5 SnD coins up for trade just like Pokemon, and if another player meets the request, it is auto accepted or something.
ReplyDeleteIt would be helpful to people who don't actually have SnD coins but want to get them with their Pokemon...
Also, Here are a few features that I thought would had been helpful:
A) Being able to choose how many MG we want to get from entering the code once.
B) If not, maybe just being able to be able to do it much quicker, like being able to press ENTER and just having it stay there instead of going back to main menu?
C) On PC, things like "Call all Pokemon back to profile" (MG pickups are EXTREMELY tedious and annoying) or put multiple Pokemon up for trade at once, all with the same request.
D) On PC, being able to trade in "Group." By that, I mean I can put up 3~4 Pokemon and ask for just one.
THANKS! Keep up the great work!
I believe that is Silver Jr you are with? I mean your rival?
ReplyDeleteWell, it looks like it's Flying this week. In which case I have only one word for you people; WOOBAT.
ReplyDeleteI got my Jirachi to level 83, just with that police guy. It is quite a great source...
ReplyDeleteOh, No, PLEASE DON'T. Also, It is Psychic/Flying, not Flying/Psychic, so it won't be an option.
ReplyDeleteI have a suggestion for the regular Celebi thing, which, I believe, won't happen for a while...
ReplyDeleteI know this is not the case with the main series etc., etc., but maybe you can make it so that in order the get GS ball, we need to get all 28 Unown and then talk to the scientist? This was, I believe, the most popular of the rumors, so maybe it will be nice to add it.
And, for the sake of those who miss the MG this week, if you have all 28 Unowns shiny (which would be extremely hard), you can get shiny Celebi and the case with shadow too.
Not the same question but related- will we see any events from PTD 1?
ReplyDeleteWoops, didn't realize that Tornadus is the only Pokemon with Flying as its primary type.
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess it would still be on the poll, but please people, DON'T VOTE FOR IT!!!!
Starly, Tailow, Pidove, Archen(?), Yamna(?)... I'm leaning towards Starly.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is that there aren't 28 unowns to get. There's only one, and it randomizes itself every time you look at it, changing both the letter it represents and the hidden power it contains. That's just how Sam chose to do it, so it doesn't sound like what your proposing meshes with that at all.
ReplyDeleteI know that, but the thing is that Celebi won't be added until the 8th badge, and I believe that forms will be added by then.
ReplyDeleteTo be completely honest, I doubt it.
ReplyDeleteDEFINITELY! Starly is sooo cute and Staraptor is just DOPE.
ReplyDeletePidove NOPEEE
Ynma, nah, its pre-evolved form was introduced in Pokemon GSC.
Archen, I don't even know what that is :)
Well, if it wasn't added, there is a whole bunch of things that would be missing.
ReplyDeleteCertainly Sam will add forms for other pokemon, but I see no compelling reason that he will change the unown thing. I'm not saying he won't, I'm not Sam, I'm just saying that I don't think he will.
ReplyDeleteI mean, if he can, why not?
ReplyDeleteWhat do you have against Woobat? Woobat is awesome!
ReplyDeleteIf it ends up being Flying, I vote for Woobat or Starly.
ReplyDeleteYay Woobat! :D
ReplyDeletearchen is a gen 5 fossil pokemon
ReplyDeleteWhen will Sam update 1V1 part of ptd2?
ReplyDeleteBecause there is so much else to do, especially in terms of his own game.
ReplyDelete(in a starly voice) STARLY!
ReplyDeleteI WANNA ARCHEN
ReplyDeleteWHAT'S THE FREAKING CHANCE OF A CORSOLA AND WHICH DAYS?!?!?!
ReplyDeletemaybe seeing the cuftscenes from the game while being in the trees or something or sumthin?
ReplyDeletesam I hope you read this im a finish fan and if your gona do a ptd 3 can itbe hoam pleese a eeve mystery gift
ReplyDeleteSam three questions:
ReplyDelete1. You say that we can buy item from pokemart and pokecenter then what money do we
use the game money or snd coins and daily coins?
2. Sam are you gonna put download link for ptd2?
3. And if were gonna use the game money where do we get some because all of our money is 10 pokedollars?
By the way Great game my friends and my brother love it
some hint pls i cannot defeat shadow methree clone it's too strong
Well, if he's gonna add other forms as well, it will not be too hard to add Unown because he has all the designs, codes etc.
ReplyDeleteSam, maybe make it so that we can decide how the PC shows up. Like, I'm tired of looking at thousands of MGs and regular Caterpies when I look up Pokemon that have shiny Rayquaza as the request...
ReplyDeleteNo, no. Say it with me; Woo... Bat.
ReplyDeleteKING SAM. .
ReplyDeleteTHE ADOPTION CENTER. .
Y U NO ADD QWILFISH & CORSOLA?
This^ made me laugh. XD
ReplyDeleteIf I ever do ptd3 it will be hoen
ReplyDeleteI say taillow and wingull and bring in togepi
ReplyDeleteit's a lower chance and only during the day
ReplyDeleteI should
ReplyDeletehow would that work?
ReplyDeletegood questions!
ReplyDelete1. game money
2. eventually, not a high priority
3. trainers in the past will give you money
look at what mewthree is saying to give you clues as to what you have to do
not for a while, story needs a lot of love
ReplyDeleteSo how are we going to make it to the second gym and beyond that if we are going back in time? Anybody else wondering that?
ReplyDeleteI like putting up coins and asking for something maybe in a couple of weeks
ReplyDeletea) I actually want people to keep putting the code in, it helps with sponsorship
b)possibly
c)interesting options, you must pickup a lot of MG
d) this one would be tough, I've thought about it
never said I would do it :)
ReplyDeletethey will show up eventually :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, thanks for answering. :)
ReplyDeleteLike in the actual game. So I can look for certain type, rarity, level, etc.
ReplyDeleteLots of my Pokemon are Eggy or other Pokemon, so it's quite annoying to actually find them, especially now that I sometimes don't know what number it is.
I just hate how most of my favorite flying type are an evolved form where their pre-evolutions are not flying type... The only hope I have is, really, Starly...
ReplyDeleteok thank you
ReplyDeleteOh, yes please!
ReplyDeletewhat are these phases for such cosmoides?
ReplyDeleteNow, let's see.
ReplyDeleteWoobat. Hmm. Looks like a cotton ball with wings and fat nose. Evolves to...
Swoobat. wow. A face almost as ugly as Feebas. Total stat of 425.
Oh! Happiness evolution! Sounds like another 10 daily coins need to be wasted!
Starly. Hmm. Looks pretty cute.
Starvia... Doesn't look too bad.
Staraptor. Wow. this is a DOPE bird. Total stat of 475.
Evolves at level 34... Well, that will take about half an hour! Swoobat. 10 daily coins take 1~2 days!
Well, people, you can decide. Which do you think is better?
Almost as ugly as Feebas?! Are you on drugs or something? Swoobat is cute! Besides, Swoobat gets Unaware (nullifies opponents' stat gains) and Simple (doubles its own stat gains). Not to mention the nice, diverse movepool it'll have once Sam adds TMs! Energy Ball, Shadow Ball, Charge Beam (which, by the way, you'll want to use with Simple- quick and easy way to max out Special Attack!)... Plus, of course, STAB Psychic, Psyshock, and Air Slash. Besides, what do you people really want- another Normal/Flying type that's only slightly more preferable over the likes of Dodrio and Fearow, or a Psychic/Flying-type (a type combination we currently lack in the game) with an eventual quick and easy means of powering itself up, and a very diverse movepool, that is also very cute? Yeah, thought so.
ReplyDeleteSam, quick question- are there any more PTD to PTD2 transfers planned for the next update, and if so, is Missingno. among them?
ReplyDeletesam the flying type win you could put the Starly?
ReplyDeleteyou could put some pokémon normal color instead of shyne and chadou ñ know if it writes so well it would be nice if every day to catch a dasemanda this type instead of just shyne and chadou.
love your work you are parabens.
We still need to vote...
ReplyDeleteAlso, for most Pokemon, you can breed to get regular.
please sam puts Starly love this pokemon and many people also hope your answer
ReplyDeletesam coloca o pidave ou o starly
ReplyDeletesam you have any idea when time travel will be ready?
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding? You call that thing... CUTE???
ReplyDeleteCertainly, something is wrong with you...
Plus, there is no guarantee that the specific TMs you mentioned will be added soon, and looking at the moveset up to level 35, well, Staraptor can learn MUCH better moves than Swoobat.
Last, although its abilities do sound good for main series, I do not think that would be the case with PTD, really.
EXCUSE me? I think Swoobat's cute, so that means there's clearly something wrong with me? You have issues, obviously. Next I suppose you're gonna say there's something wrong with me because I think Gulpin, Koffing, and Trubbish are cute.
ReplyDeletewoobat sucks
ReplyDeletevote for starly
because starly knows close combat
No, only Staraptor gets Close Combat. At level 36. Meaning we won't have it until the next level cap increase.
ReplyDeleteVote for Woobat.
Sam you should have a game corner in ptd 2 as well as daily gift.
ReplyDeleteYou said that in the next update you would make it possible for us to go inside pokemon center or any other places that says theyre locked
thats because jessie has woobat
ReplyDeletethe hero ash has starly so its only fair that the hero gets it
besides theres always a giveaway
this is onix-eptable
ReplyDeletestarly should be given and swoobat maybe giveaway
I would be OK with this arrangement. Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against Starly as a species, it's just that I greatly prefer Woobat.
ReplyDeleteHey Sam,
ReplyDeleteIn one of your updates can you please make it possible to fight more trainers and stuff,
and maybe make a PvP (USING OUR OWN POKEMON)
Hey Sam,
ReplyDeletedo you think its a good idea to make pokemon use fly and travel to any ware on the map to places youve already been to,
Or if neccassary for example in future updates make it possible to make a pokemon use fly and cross the mountain pass,
Or use cut to cross bushes and go to secret areas where you catch rare pokemon.
Dive to go on water and also go to secret places.
Please sam i really want these stuff in the future updates,
But so far excellent work on ptd and ptd2
If close combat is already in the game then Staraptor can learn it at lvl 36
ReplyDeleteI don't think it is, though, that's what I'm saying.
ReplyDeleteBUT STILL!!!
ReplyDeleteIts not like sams not going to increase the level cap right.
So staraptor is the best flying type
1 reason is because ash has it
other than turtwig and piplup
ReplyDeleteThere should be torchic and mudkip
Because theyre so classy
Excuse ME?? You were the one who accused me for calling that thing ugly, which is as simple as 1+1=2.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, I would say you are weird for calling those weird.
Yah! I herd u liek mudkip!
ReplyDeleteSam you should bring back that avatar chat because that made it much easier to trade people.
ReplyDeleteBecause sometimes people are inactive for 9 days and the 10th. day they deny offer so its a waste of my time.
I dont think pokemon are cute because thats just too childish
ReplyDeleteBut i still like brute strength so staraptor should get chosen.
Why???
ReplyDeleteSwampert and blazekin would beet torterra and empolean anyday
including today
What kind of logic is that? A Pokémon isn't automatically fantastic just because Ash owns one.
ReplyDeleteWell, Swoobat's not ugly, so yeah, I think there's something seriously wrong with you if you think it's ugly.
ReplyDeleteWell thats the only way pikachu became famous
ReplyDeleteActually, if memory serves, it's the other way around- Pikachu was made Ash's starter because of its growing fame. The original plan was for Ash to start with Clefairy.
ReplyDeleteI think so too
ReplyDeleteBecause i like staraptor alot
Actually ive tried catching at every single time of the day (morning and night too)
ReplyDeleteBut the freaky part is my brother caught it in his first try
yeah and ptd 4 in sinnoh
ReplyDeleteptd 5 in unova
ptd 6 in kalos
and many more to go.......
(Boy thats gonna take long)
But still till now to this day
ReplyDeletepikachu grows more famous, why??
Because Ash own hims.
What you speak of is an old story which many would not be bothered of so all pokemon ash owns are special.
Everybody please vote for starly if flying wins the poll (which is going to happen for sure)
ReplyDeleteBecause its so good.
We still have to beet bugsy, whitney, morty, chuck, jasmine, pryce and clair.
ReplyDeletewhew i cant even remember all of them since theyre are so many to beat
for bugsy you must use fire types so,
ReplyDeleteim burning with the heat.
So here i come azalea town
Hi Sam
ReplyDeleteCan you make a cool flying mystery gift like starly
choice band kamikaze ftw
ReplyDeleteYeah i would like that too
ReplyDeletechoice band kamikaze BIRD ftw
ReplyDeleteWell, guess what. That is strictly limited to your opinion, and that is no reason to judge other people. I found it as ugly as, if not uglier than, Feebas, so that is what I mentioned, so if you found it cute, tough luck, you are not gonna convince ME.
ReplyDeleteStarly was first flying type pokemon
ReplyDeletePersonally, I consider the whole concept of Pokemon kind of childish. I mean, it was designed as a children's game, so it would really be childish. But what is wrong with calling a Pokemon cute? Like, if you saw a really cute puppy, you would call it cute.
ReplyDeleteErr... What? It was introduced in 4th gen. Couldn't have been the case... BTW, no need to talk to urself.
ReplyDeleteBut you have said that PTD Generation will likely include all 5, and possibly 6, regions, right? Hopefully you didn't change your mind?
ReplyDeleteAny day of the week, but make sure you have the Good Rod. Also, as Sam said, it's only during the day. I caught mine in Cherrygrove City.
ReplyDeleteSam. Do u think its possible that we can adopt other trainers pokemonusing daily coins also. It would more likely Benicia people who have a crap load of daily coins and doesn't know what to do with me. No offense if I offended anybody. It seemed like a good idea to you me. Idk about guys, debate about it if u like.
ReplyDeleteWait so no 8 usual gym battles in a region??? Was hoping to kick bugsy's butt lol
ReplyDeleteThank for answering and the tip it really helps i just defeated it
ReplyDeletehttp://pandoragaming.co.uk/index/ Is the current official PTD1/2 forum, and is celebrating its 2nd year anniversary!
ReplyDeleteBugsy is more screwed than he already needs to be. However, if there are enough enemies, Staraptor will just kill itself before the bosses get to it.
ReplyDeleteSam, I did the mystery gift code, and got a shadow celebi instead of a shiny celeby. Just wanted to let you know.
ReplyDeleteThis will be for only a day. It will become shiny again.
ReplyDeletehttp://pokemontowerdefense.wikia.com/wiki/Mystery_Gift_(PTD2)
ReplyDeleteThe people who posted the Celebi code states that the Shiny is temporary. :/
Sam, you have the Celebi hunt up saying it's for a shiny Celebi, not a shadow Celebi. I was so disappointed :'( haha, but yeah, just thought you'd like to know
ReplyDeleteWhere did Sam mention "only" or "one day" or "temporary" shadow on Thursday?
ReplyDeleteI've been using Ctrl+F and scrolling through Sam's tweets but I don't see it.
Did he mention it on his livestream or what?
shadow only on thursday, it will go back to shiny on friday
ReplyDeleteproblem with that is that it makes getting an infinite amount of daily coins possible very easily
ReplyDeleteI might bring it back in the future
ReplyDeletethey are coming soon enough
ReplyDeletefight more trainers will happen
ReplyDeleteI usually update on the weekend
ReplyDeleteit's in the poll
ReplyDeleteno time for it this week
ReplyDeleteyou battle in the past, it still counts ;)
ReplyDeleteSo nothing extremely logistical, I just question some of your design decisions in the game play. I know pointless grinding is a staple in the Pokemon series, but really the difficulty curve in both of your ptd games is pretty ridiculous. I stopped playing ptd 1 when I sunk 2 particularly unhappy hours beating Vermillion City. I'm considering stopping ptd 2 because Entei is way too hard, even though I googled how to "beat" him. I'd rather spend 5 hours gliding through an entire story easily than 20 hours grinding my way through hundreds of level 5 bellsprout so I can beat a level 40 Entei. I understand that the game is still in development, but you should spend some serious time fine tuning the curve to better facilitate players' desire to explore the world. Pokemon is more about discovering places and pokemon than about grinding for 15 hours to beat a pointless Kyogre. I understand that the game play needs to be interesting, but what constitutes interesting strategy for a player is limited to the player's ability. Instead of jumping from level 7 wild pokemon to a level 40 boss with an army of level 15's, I would go with something more gradual. Something sane. Maybe I could jump from level 7 wild pokemon to a level 20 boss with an army of level 10's. Sure that sounds easy, but I want the game to feel accessible. I don't want it slapping me at every turn It was absolutely maddening that I had level 40's at the third gym in ptd 1. I hate fighting legendaries as semi-regular bosses. The point of legendaries are to be out of reach until the trainer is strong enough to fight them, not to shove their overpowered butts in your face at every story beat.
ReplyDeleteI know it sounds like I'm raging really hard at your game, but I really like PTD. I just want to feel welcomed into the world of Pokemon that you create. Being stuck indefinitely sucks away all the fun.
I totally understand what your going through. You can defeat Entei by placing a pokemon like Cyndaquil with the ABILITY "Flash Fire" to absorb Entei's fireball attacks at the same time you attacking Entei. You can defeat Kyogre by weakening it's defense and use Grass or Electric pokemon. If you still find these PTD games way too hard, you can play it "hacked". Playing the hack version makes you go through the story much quicker and you are able to replay those story levels in the regular version. I've tried it and now I'm well caught up. I recommend you shouldn't quit the game just because you are stuck in a level.
ReplyDeleteNO.
ReplyDeleteI was just wondering since u haven't been adding expired mystery gift pokemon and other pokemon to the adoption center. (And plus kinda getting bored of only getting my daily coins from breeding.)
ReplyDeleteYes
ReplyDeleteYeah but i dont think ou should use the hacked,
ReplyDeleteBecause thats just very wrong.
You could just get any pokemon you want with cheat engine but its no fun doing that......
They are not so hard as you say. Use a bit of stategy, like slowing/paralizing moves, poison/confusion/burning damage, type advantage, neutralizing abilities like flash fire, etc. There are so many way to beat them... they're not even at full-power now.
ReplyDeleteYeah seriously,
ReplyDeleteThe ptd wiki really needs to be updated.
I cant find where and when to catch corsolla.
It has no information about the fisherman,
And it doesnt have any of the latest transfers from ptd 1 to ptd 2
Otherwise its great....
Helped me alot in ptd 1
I was talking about the one confirmed from Sam:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.pokemontowerdefense.net/pokemon-tower-defense-hacked.html
http://www.pokemontowerdefense.net/pokemon-tower-defense-2-hacked.html
Cheat engine was not confirmed from Sam...
Using the hacked version and cheat engine is not the same thing... as
ReplyDeleteyou said using cheat engine allows a player to catch any (already
programmed) pokémon you want but that's not authorized by Sam. The hacked version (here -> http://www.hackedarcadegames.com/game/15579/Pokemon-Tower-Defense-2.html) is fully authorized.
Guys vote for starly because hes gona help us with beating bugsy in azalea town.
ReplyDeletebugsy has spinarak, metapod and scyther, flying types are good against them.
Yeah Please,
ReplyDeleteBecause that chat is real helpful
Yeah,
ReplyDeleteHow do you know if you posses the good rod or old rod i have no clue,
but one thing i did defeat the fisherman 3 times +
Yeah
ReplyDeleteyour right, I remmember when ash fought her.
his fire type moves were so useless against scyther
...Why are there so many votes for Archen? Defeatist will be coming into play a LOT in this game, you do realize that? This isn't like the official games where most hits will OHKO Archen and Archeops anyway.
ReplyDeleteAlso Silver Wind and Ancient Power have the same effect.
ReplyDeletejust sounds too girlish
ReplyDeleteI prefer handsome
Yeah your right there should be another task or way that we can get more daily coins because i really want lots of shiny incences to get shiny golurk
ReplyDelete...That is a weird logic you got right there.
ReplyDeletemaybe cause he looks cool?
ReplyDeleteT Miln, I think your point is 100% correct and I will explain to you why it is the way it is and why it should change.
ReplyDeleteBasically when I make new levels I make them extra challenging because a large percentage of the player base is at higher levels. So instead of making it have a nice curve you get some huge jumps. To counter act this as the games moves on I go back to previous levels and adjust the difficulty so it can have a better curve. What I do is start the game from the beginning and try to beat the levels without excessive grinding. Since things have been kind of crazy recently I haven't had the chance to do it to that level yet. So there you go.
